BOWHUNTER EDUCATION FOUNDATION
INTERNATIONAL BOWHUNTER EDUCATION PROGRAM
WYOMING
The National Bowhunter Education Foundation
(NBEF) is an independent, nonprofit, tax exempt education organization
that develops, implements and administers the International
Bowhunter Education Program. The NBEF was created to ensure
bowhunting's future existence in a world steadily growing away
from the hunting tradition. Its goal is to improve the quality
of our ranks through education and protect our bowhunting privileges.
The International Bowhunter Education
Program (IBEP) is a 10-12 hour, standardized course on bowhunting.
It includes classroom study and field experience. The IBEP course
is being taught in all 50 states, Canada and some European and
African countries. The IBEP course covers the following topics:
| »Bowhunter Responsibilities |
»Bowhunting Techniques |
| »Safety |
»Bowhunting Methods |
| »Wildlife Conservation |
»Harvesting Game & Anatomy |
| »Equipment & Shooting Instruction |
»Recovering your game |
| »Proper Bowhunting Equipment |
»Proper care of meat |
| »Game Laws |
»Scouting for game |
| »Survival & First Aid |
»Anti-hunting Threats to Bowhunting |
| »Bowhunting Practice |
»When to Shoot/Where to Aim |
In Wyoming, the NBEF with cooperation from the
Wyoming Game & Fish Department, offer the IBEP to all bowhunters
and potential bowhunters across the state. The student in the
course receives a manual and a 3 in 1 responsibility guide,
that will cover, Shot Placement, Big Game Recovery, and Tree
Stand Safety. Upon completing the course, a graduate will receive
an internationally recognized card designating the student as
an "IBEP Graduate" which is recognized by all states
that require bowhunter education before hunting in their state.
WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED?
The IBEP will help you become a safer, more
accomplished bowhunter in a minimum amount of time because you
will be introduced to the fundamentals and responsibilities
of bowhunting. Even a veteran bowhunter will learn new information,
and will have the opportunity to help other bowhunters by becoming
an instructor. Independent studies indicate that those who participate,
experience more enjoyment of the sport and greater success.
